Workshop on Management lessons from Indian Scriptures by Mr. Gaurav Gupta at SBS
Management lessons from Indian Scriptures
One should take learning from scriptures and mythological stories to which we can relate very well. Our age old civilization has a wealth of learning that we can definitely look back upon, refer to, decipher and relate to in our business practices. Imbibe Leadership that is coupled with a common sense approach to looking at management perspectives, business, and governance & learn to translate the beliefs into management practices.
Dr Devdutt patnaik is an Indian physician turned leadership consultant He is the chief belief off
Icer of the future group. One of India’s largest retailers brings the wisdom of Indian mythology into Indian business especially in HRM . He worked as a consultant at the Ernst and young. He ha done television show n CNBC TV 1 8 with the hoist maneka doshi called business sutra the show draws business lessons from Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata. An renowned consultant also a story consultant it Indian tele vision network star TV-18
If you look at the scriptures of India it talks about his modern world. The facts till persisits today.
The female has to be respected at the wkplace and protected as a professional and social persona
Dr Devdutt book the godess in India the five faces of then is a guideline true eternal femeinine talks about female respect and chastity. Lakshmi the godess of wealth and for business owners and management gurus.
The management of organisations — including people management — is turning out to be a challenging task in the present international scenario, thanks to globalisation. As a science, management is developing at a phenomenal pace. The political, economic, and social environments are all changing at an equally rapid speed.
Management is not anything new to this land, which has a long history of culture, tradition, and ethos. Ancient India led in overseas trade and commerce. Considering that it has now become imperative in the current scenario to identify innovative and creative tools and techniques to beat the competition, it is worthwhile to delve deep into the Indian mythology fishing for a fresh framework in management. It is in this context, that the book under notice is breaking new ground The book is in three parts. The first part forms the Introduction, which explains why and how the art and science of management can be related to Hindu mythology — the connectivity between “Belief” and “Business”. According to Devdutt Pattanaik, mythology is as much objective and pragmatic as the principles in management.
Belief is the basis from which “sprouts every human enterprise, (and) every culture…. (But) every belief is irrational and hence, a myth. Therefore, the study of stories, symbols, and rituals to decode the beliefs (that) they communicate is called mythology
Mythology and Business
With increasing competition and insatiable desire of organizations for profits the employees are put under immense pressure to perform. The objective of employees remains only how to increase profits and make money resulting in detachment and dissatisfaction from work. Thus, new approaches have to be designed to reduce work pressure, increase satisfaction and still be ahead of competition in making money. To stitch these two aims this study has observed the initiative taken by many organizations where they have used Indian mythology studies to design and develop new rules and policies successfully in creating positive work environment. For example Future Group is using LSD (Lakshmi, Saraswati, Durga) model effectively to incorporate the 3B Model in a Big Bazaar store.
3B Concept
3B concept has been developed by Future Group which says that any business in this world depends on how people behave. It depends upon how customer behaves; it depends upon how employees behave. Imagine a shop, and business has to happen in that shop, then it is pertinent to study what a customer does to define the sales. It also depends upon the people who are working in the store. Are they talking to the customers? Are they engaging with the customer? So the behavior of employee and customer will create the business. But behind behavior there is something else called Belief, as it is belief and values of the customer that shapes his/her action. Customer comes to the store because he believes there is something there which fulfills his need and delights him in the process. Employees will work happily or unhappily depends upon what they believe is their role in an organization.
3B Model
Belief---->Behavior--->Business
Vishwas--->Vyavhar--->Vyapar

Sharda University Tech Fest 'Contrivance 2014'
Human race is evolving from fish to birds, from birds to animal, animals to ape and from ape to Homo sapiens. The evolution from earliest life form to modern world took approximately 4000 million years; of this period last 10,000 years have been of significant importance to human race. Man has evolved from a hunter gatherer, slave to the nature, subject to and terrified of diseases, animals and unknown forces of nature into a modern man nested into the wonders of scientific discovery, fighting successfully against diseases and taming nature.
His biggest ally in the above endeavor was his brain. That brain which gave birth to industrial revolution followed by cyber revolution and is now nurturing a robotic revolution. One of the pioneers of the same and included in the Times list of hundred most influential people is Prof. Henrik Scharfe from Aalborg University Denmark. He was a little known professor till he developed his robotic twin Geminoid DK.
He was in India recently on account of India Today Conclave. He says future robots will be mobile, networked and very intelligent and adds that the future technology will be designed in the following manner, First future robots s will be mobile and occupy human inhabited places, secondly future robotics will network robots and they will be able to draw from multiple sources of information ranging from entire internet to hundreds of other robots.
They may even have social security number and passports with variety of looks from mechanical looking to human. It might be difficult to differentiate a robot from his creator. It may sound like science fiction, but very probable to happen sooner than later.
At Sharda keeping in tune with the times we train the brain into a well equipped knowledge box, that has a heart and an empathetic soul. “Contrivance” our Tech festival is one step towards this goal. It provides our students a platform to showcase their intellectual brilliance through a plethora of events circling around the core idea of this university, i.e. academic excellence. Contrivance aims to bring students excelling in academics under one roof through a series of interactive events.
The team of Contrivance 2014 has proposed the theme of this year’s events as ‘Science fiction and future technology”. The various events will be UDAAN, RC BAJA, ROBOTICS, Electronics and communication, Circuit breaker and Electronic Wizards.
For details of the events click here

So Sharda welcomes you all for this stimulating and memorable experience, to blend your brain and technology together.
